does Christmas piss off god?

The Christian god, commonly known as Jehovah, doesn't say a whole lot about Christmas. But he does say this through his prophet Jeremiah (chapter 10):

1. Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel.
2. This is what the LORD says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them.
3. For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
4. They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter.
5. Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good."

----------
I wonder what crazy religion that was, that cut down trees in the forests, fixed them so they won't totter, and decorated them. Sure did piss off God, although He was pretty damn mad through most of that book, according to Jeremiah. Made W sound like a pussy cat comparatively. I think they should edit all that R-rated stuff out of the Bible. Like Lot's daughters getting him drunk so they could sleep with him. Ewww.

Christianity is a weeeeiiiird religion.

Chucklesnort. What, you mean you don't play survivalist with your dad, get him drunk and fuck him to preserve his genetic material? If you knew how pissed off god would get if you didn't, maybe you'd change your tune!

Speaking of tune changing, have you heard of Marcion? 'bout a century after the "historical" Jesus, he said that Jesus took a dim view of "Jehovah", saying he was a demiurge and bully for creating a cruel physical world and that there was a bigger god who was all about love, all the time, who has nothing to do with unpleasantness, and that this OTHER god is a part of your built-in hardware as a human. That's speaks to me, wierd as it is. This is deducable from Scripture, and could change the outlooks of some of the Dominionists who are steering our society in a bad direction. Of course the Romans hated Marcion's guts, because love destroys fear and feer a.) is the natural state of any devout believer whose sole deity is omnipotent and POed, and b.) fear is achief tool of Empire. Unsurprisingly, Marcion became wildly popular with non-conquered people of Asia Minor of the time before that understanding got pushed underground.

Have just read Timothy Leary's "Load and Run High-tech Paganism-Digital Polytheism", which basically says fully do your own thing that works the best for you, and don't take it too seriously. A current, interesting scholar is Ched Myers. Very satisfyingly, he has demonstrated major green anarchist themes and stories in the Torah. I'll be okay in here.

Marcion--sounds about right!--wildly popular with unconquered people eh!

Hakim Leary has been a favorite of mine since I read RAW's Prometheus Rising, and someone gave me The Delicious Grace of Moving One's Hand (writings by Leary). Overwhelming pleasure undoes the reward-punishment programming! Life to the robots!
