this is around where we were: http://www.imagoearth.org/

another time, some amigas and i cruised down to OTR for Final Fridays. some of the artists open their doors and provide food and drink while you browse their collections. twas very nice... this bleeds into another story.

one of the artisans is a Nam vet, and he had a picture of some Chinese men out on their boats at night. on the gunnels of their boats were what looked liked cormorants, holding metal rings in their mouths. i asked dude what that was about. "They help the humans fish. See the rings? The boaters will slip the ring down around the birds neck, then send then off the side to grab a fish. The ring keeps the bird from swallowing the fish. (Those) Birds are afraid of the dark (so they come back to the lantern light on the boat). They take the fish, give 'em a treat and send 'em back in."

right now i'm listening to (http://www.elvuh.com/) El Vuh's "Jaguar Prophecies", on the Aztlan Rising site (http://aztlanrising.com/cms/) y'all might like the Aztlan Rising site

also planted more at La PAZ. here's the rundown

yarrow. it's a perrenial. good for tea to help with any menstrual problems. the flowers are convex, but in other regards resemble queen anne's lace. they're purble and white. good info here: http://www.friedli.com/herbs/yarrow.html

tanzy. good symbiotic properties with berry plants, so we planted them in among a young patch of black berries. 'parently they have other human uses as well. careful, it's invasive and perrenial. http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/t/tansy-05.html

borridge- haven't planted these yet, just got the seeds. annual with edible leaves, blue flowers, prickly stems. other properties as well

lambs quarters- big edible leaf plant, prolific, perrenial, native.

now i'm looking for spicebush and epazote, and other stuff. and that's all i'm going to tell you! Bwah haha!
